Research results constitute intellectual property (IP). They have value, are marketable, and should therefore be protected against imitation. Early protection is crucial here; any oversights are nearly impossible to correct after the fact.
But which research results can actually be protected, and which protection option is the right one? The seminar “Patents – Trademarks – Designs – Software & More” provides an overview of the most important intellectual property rights, their significance, application, and potential costs.
Using concrete real-world examples, researchers and entrepreneurs are made aware of the importance of recognizing the potential of their work and identifying the appropriate intellectual property rights for each case. This is because a wide variety of marketable IP is created even outside the usual technical fields: inventions, software, two- and three-dimensional designs, trademarks, texts, concepts, brochures, books, know-how, and trade secrets—all of these can be protected.
Contents:
- A concise overview of the options for protecting research results
- Raising awareness of the potential of protectable research results
- Raising awareness of the need to explore necessary measures for protection and commercialization
- Specific real-world examples
