Contracts for Research Projects – Part 1 and Part 2

Confidentiality, collaboration, licensing, MTAs, and more: a wide variety of contracts are part of the daily business of technology transfer. Many research findings are valuable assets that should be protected through appropriate contracts and optimally commercialized. This requires negotiating objectives as well as ownership and usage rights, structuring agreements to ensure legal certainty, and documenting them correctly.

The various types of contracts and their contents are illustrated using practical examples from the research environment.

Part 1 (November 16, 2026):

• Introduction to contract law
• Letter of Intent (LOI) + preliminary agreement
• Option agreement
• Confidentiality agreement

Part 2 (November 23, 2026):

• Collaboration agreement
• Purchase agreement + license agreement
• Material Transfer Agreement (MTA)
